ECIM project aims at developing a platform gathering mobility services for new applications to ease urban travels
ECIM, project co-funded by the European Commission, wants to make easy, for service and data suppliers as well as developers, to co-create these new applications, notably thanks to a marketplace housing API from different mobility services. ECIM aims at facilitating the migration of Web services in the “cloud” and providing for a simple mechanism to aggregate them.
Actually, developers have now access to a dedicated platform which proposes API from services existing in the project city partners (Issy-les-Moulineaux in France, Barcelona in Spain, Brussels in Belgium and Birmingham in the UK).
ECIM’s solution is provided as an application based on HTML5 for end-users to access it from any type of smartphone.
As a pilot city within the project, Issy-les-Moulineaux is testing a web application which integrates data from the Open Data portal data.issy.com and which allows PayByPhone subscribers to use the same account to pay the parking in a car park managed by another start-up, BePark (rue Rabelais in the Fort d’Issy district). That is a good example which illustrates the interest to access different services form a single account, avoiding multiplication of login and passwords. ECIM testers can also visualize transport-related information: parking, real time shared-bike availabilities, car sharing stations, TUVIM stops … from their smartphone.
Next step to come… API Contest: an application challenge, in partnership with a digital engineering school, ISEP, and several economic partners.
